    Hi Utopian,
In a message to All you wrote:

I think its stupid to have like 2-3 copies of google chrome on your computer, Apps like Discord should use the standard copy of Chrome

This is why I don't do these apps. Sure I am on discord, but I only
use the web interface. I would guess I spend 10 mins a day total on
    Discord, Reddit and Digg combined.

What does the app do that the web site doesn't? (I am curious)

... If it's Tourist Season why can't we shoot 'em??

That brought back flashbacks of apps that wanted their own Java runtime
    environments.

I tend to just use the web sites too if the app is basically a self-contained web browser. But I suppose one advantage might be that if your web browser crashes for some reason, it won't take down the app.

the app does some weird things (some probably useful)

it installs a relay fake sound card so you can stream audio from programs to your friends or in the chat.. i'm not sure if that's just a workaround because i've used it without that as well and it seemed to pick up audio..

it also can (as mentioned in my other post) watch your computer activity. one useful thing would be that it could watch for a hotkey systemwide to use as a push-to-talk to chat with friends while in games. it will also watch what games you're playing and show that to friends (but as i mentioned in the other post it sees *everything* you run, including window titles)

it has access to sound and video by default and won't ask to use them.

oops, i accidentally saved before i was done.. but yeah.. lots of stuff it'd be insecure for a regular browser to be able to do
