Alex, all is not like it may seem. Ward and I go way back. He's actually a good guy and we get along fine.

I've been less on the bbs because my vision is making it hard. It's nothing dreadful, just normal aging causing cataracts. I'm getting scheduled for surgery late jun or Jul. Normally the eyes are done 3 weeks apart. After that, new glasses but the eyes have to steady out a bit first.

Hi Alex, Zones don't have election rules on how often, except internally. Same for RCs. So a Zone policy may list them but they don't have to have them if they don't want to.

Most of Z1 tries to have them or did but not sure RCs do it commonly now.

what i know is the other side. when i needed his help - which was one case when i wanted back my orig. fidonet node - he was the man and the (re)application was fast and oiled. i think you forgot that its a hobby for most of us.

Actually, it was Bob Seaborn who shipped me a USR Everything modem and in response I shipped him a case of Belgian Trappist ales.

Janis and I, away from the spotlights, worked well together. As our nodelist was produced 6hrs ahead of the Z1-one, whenever there was an issue in the ZONE1-segment (and that happened a couple of times) I just called her voice PSTN and we repaired it while chatting. After a major crash here she was also instrumental in getting me going again. There's a lot more and I went to visit her ... nice person away from the keyboard. We planned to meet again but then she got sick and it went fast ... at the end we were in touch daily.

I agree, no power, just responsibilities.

And khrap dropped on your head while trying to do a good thing.

I think the RCs of R45 R46 and R50 plus myself have placed ourselves above the conflict in Ukraine. Once it gets resolved, and eventually it will, these RCs will take care of the nodelist if there is a need for it.

I'm not in here for the glory or the power, you probably have no idea how insignificant Fidonet is on the world level. True ... some people have basked in power, but that is only imagined power. As our nodelist was produced 6hrs ahead of the Z1-one, whenever there was an issue in the ZONE1-segment (and that happened a couple of times) I just called her voice PSTN and we repaired it while chatting. After a major crash here she was als instrumental in getting me going again. There's a lot more and I went to vis her ... nice person away from the keyboard. We planned to meet again but the she got sick and it went fast ... at the end we were in touch daily.

I agree, no power, just responsibilities.

Ah, so it was Bob. Ok! Either way, none of us have ever been like others think. After a point, you see past all the politics and how silly it all is. Sadly some here recently want to restart of it.

Write them yourself, distribute them, see if people like it in which case it will be used. That's the only way how change works.

Bizarre is when he allows nodelist entries like this, when Crimea belong to Ukraine: Pvt,16,Aelita_Station,Simferopol_Russia,Vlad_Shvedovich,-Unpublished-,30

I think the RCs of R45 R46 and R50 plus myself have placed ourselves above t conflict in Ukraine. Once it gets resolved, and eventually it will, these RC will take care of the nodelist if there is a need for it.

We're not going to have a war imported here ... it happened previously and I appreciate it not to happen anymore. We are sysops united by a hobby.

Yes. What is missing is each zone has always had ways that worked well for them. There is no reason why they have to be the exact same.

EX: When I moved the last of Z6 to Z3, it was not to a geographically 'closest area' but with the agreement of Z3c, to the one that had proven the most widely connectable to the nodes moving. That was the most southerly part of Z3.

Zones often work more about 'connectable' than geography if the 2 come
in conflict.
