I have the same problem with this door as the others, it acts like enter was hit 5 or 6 times on startup and behaves that way... Wordle and x-news aren' affected as they ignore that. I've reported this, but was totally blown off SBBS probably doesn't have this issue, but if I do Mystic and others probabl do with the win32 door.

Are you logging into your bbs locally or via a terminal program? If so, what terminal program are you using?

Thanks, it's the terminals. mtelnet, netrunner and icyterm all have
this issue. syncterm does not and connectbot does not. Both of the
last two disconnect on the advent calendar, though...

Sorry fo the huge quote, using my phone. mtelnet skips 2 screens. syncterm works fine.
it showed the same screens as syncterm. so is this a mystic bbs issue?
i'm talking about knk2
I run ELE. I don't know. When I use mtelnet I don't see the ANSI
music prompt.
Mtelnet, as well as most other BBS telnet programs, have never supported ANSI music. Mtelnet never will, either. Syncterm is one of the few (maybe even one of the only) that does, though. So this may explain why whatever you're talking about is only displayed in Syncterm, and not in the others you've tried.

Is it possible knk2 tries to detect ANSI music support, and if not found it doesn't display the prompt?

It doesn't detect ANSI music it asks the user if they heard any or just
saw a series of characters.
and this guy is just forgetting that he said no to the ansi sound
effects. it asks you. "Press [ENTER] to continue. -=> FT64L64O5CDP32CDP32CDP16 If your terminal supports ANSI sound, you just heard some. If it doesnt, you just saw some weird characters.
Do you want the ANSI sound effects? [Y/N] -=>"
this is mt32 when you say you want the sound
effects. it attemps the ansi music.

If syncterm doesn't have this problem, why would sbbs? Other systems do with netrunner and to a lesser extend, mt32.

Let's start this over.
You mentioned that you run EleBBS, and you are "connecting to my system," meaning EleBBS. Does EleBBS have some way to run javascript games made specifically for Synchronet?
No, this is not a synchronet game. This is a win32 door.
What I'm stating is that when running the door on shsbbs.net, using
mtelnet or netrunner or icyterm, the first few pages are skipped as if
enter is hit repeatedly. Same is true with all win32 doors by this
author. In many of them, this resutls in the first screen being redrawn many times before it calms down.

Right. But you're asking about it in Dovenet where people think you're referring to the JS version of the game, causing (at the very least
myself) confusion.

Contact the author and ask him about it? I gave you his email address, and
I don't think I've ever seen him post here, so what you are stating may be falling on deaf ears.

So, the DOSBOX-X "softmodem" does support a telnet mode that may help with the
issue... "ATNET1" selects telnet (and "ATNET0" turns it back off).
The thing to be careful of is that the entire command gets otherwise ignored i
the substring "NET1" or "NET0" is in it, so if you're doing other init stuff you need to be sure it's separate.

While it may be the same game, they are not the same game. However,
they are both based off the original by Alan Davenport.
this game asks you if you want ansi music. i posted screenshot.
here it is asking me when running it local with no mt32 or syncterm
if i want ansi music

How in the world do you think you were ignored? Do you consider not
getting a reponse instantly because the world revolves around you, as
being ignored? Might want to ease up a bit and give it a little time. He
may be busy, your email may have ended up in his spam folder, etc.
There are plenty of possibilities that your email didn't get reponded to
as soon as /you/ would have liked. This is just a hobby, after all.
So long as you sent the email to the right place, and didn't /demand/ he
fix your issue, you did all you can do.
If that one little annoyance is hindering you from enjoying the game,
don't play the game. It's as easy as that.

That may be an unfortunate sign that the door is not really supported
and therefore is not worth bothering with. :(
Also, is there a "Z" command from the main menu that toggles ansi
sound on and off ("?" at that menu will show a list of available
commands). I'm going off of Deuce's version that I have installed
here, as I don't have this "25/Remastered" one installed. If they
both function the same, then I don't know what to tell the guy.

well that wasn't being ignored. what proof did you provide?
the way to fix this is to not accept anything except those commands
on the main menu. it accepts any data as a no for ansi and it picks
a mode of knk.
I don't experience what you're reporting. What terminal are you
using? I've tried mtelnet, icyterm, syncterm and netrunner with no problems...
he said there isn't a bug. perhaps your report was real poor. what exactly did you say?
Exactly what I said here, that at the beginning of starting the door,
it acts like enter has been pressed several times when using a term
other than syncterm. They said everyone uses syncterm so it's not
their problem.

are you smoking crack or something.? I don't understand why you ask. My haldol would make it ineffective. A friend of mine patched the game to avoid the error. I don't know if he's willing or up to patching the other games. I won't be putting them out in
